The annual report for Twence Holding B.V. was adopted in the shareholders' meeting held on 17 April 2025. In 2024, Twence posted a positive net result (after tax) of €14.4 million on a turnover of €145.6 million, more than 60% of which came from the net income of raw materials and energy.
Unpredictable
The energy market, inflation and geopolitical unrest lead to unpredictability in 2024. Despite this, the result rose by more than 50% compared to 2023, thanks to a focused approach on costs and higher revenues from energy.
More than 1.1 million tonnes of waste converted into raw materials and energy
Over the past few years, Twence has transformed from a waste processor into an energy and raw materials company.
In 2024, more than 1.1 million tonnes of waste and biomass were processed. This led to the recovery of 262 tonnes of raw materials (+7% compared to 2023) such as metals, liquid CO2, compost and fertilisers. And to the generation of 872 GWh (2023: 709 GWh) of sustainable energy in the form of heat, steam, green gas and electricity, enough to meet the consumption needs of around 193,000 households.
Contributing to regional sustainability
Innovation remains the driving force behind Twence's sustainability ambitions. In 2024, a number of major projects will be completed, including the carbon capture unit (CCU), which is capable of capturing 100,000 tonnes of CO2, and the construction of a solar park in Zenderen, which supplies electricity equivalent to the consumption of 3,800 households. Additionally, the green light was given for the construction of a green gas plant that will generate green gas from VFG waste.
